The upcoming 34th Conference of the Association for Gender and Sexuality Studies (AEGS) will take place at the University of Oviedo from May 20th and 22nd, 2026. It will be hosted by the Institute of Gender and Diversity (IUGEN-DIV), the INTERSECTIONS research group (Contemporary Literatures, Cultures, and Theories), and the Department of English, French, and German.
The mission of AEGS is to foster shared interest, research, and critical reflection on cultural products from the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula through the lenses of feminist, gender, and sexuality studies, while also engaging with other categories of analysis relevant to these fields.
This edition focuses on care as its main theme, under the title “Caring for the World: New Narratives of Justice, Gender, and Affect.” The aim is to encourage critical reevaluations of the role of care in interpersonal relationships as well as in relationships that go beyond the human.
